Photo Facial

What is a Photofacial?

Photofacial is light therapy that uses cutting edge technology to produce younger-looking skin that’s firmer and more even in tone and texture. With little recovery time and no surgery, Photofacials offer a safe, FDA-cleared option for sun damage, anti-aging, and skin rejuvenation. You can get a Photofacial on your face, neck, and chest.

How does it work?

The Photofacial laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat.

What to expect during your treatment?

During your session, you will wear protective eyewear and lie down on a comfortable procedure table. Your aesthetician will cleanse the treatment area and use a handheld device to deliver pulses of light to the treatment areas. The pulse feels like a small rubber band snapping on the skin.

What to expect after your treatment?

Avoid sun exposure by applying sun block (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated area with abrasive skin cleansers. Do not use any glycolic or alpha-hydroxy acid products or retinoids following treatment. Treat your skin gently as if you had sunburn. You can expect some redness and swelling which will dissipate in a few hours or up to 48 hours. Your face may feel warm or feel like you have a sunburn for a few hours.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

Photofacials are especially helpful if you want to correct sun damage or unsightly redness.

FAQ’s

Does it hurt?

There is some discomfort with each laser pulse, best described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. The discomfort resolves in a few seconds.

Risks are minimal. Side effects may include redness and swelling which will last for 24-48 hours. Rare side effects include pigmentation changes, blistering and bruising. These are very, very rare and generally only last a few days.

How many treatments will you need?

The number of the treatments depends on the condition of your skin. Many factors are taken into consideration regarding the efficacy of individual laser treatments, including the severity of the condition being treated. The number of treatments usually recommended is three to six. You will begin to see results with each progressing treatment.

How to prepare for the treatment?

Your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, creams, oils, or self tanning products before your Photofacial treatment. The intended treatment area should not be exposed to sunlight or tanning booth light for two weeks prior to treatment.

Is this treatment permanent?

Photofacial treatment results are permanent, however, the skin is susceptible to additional damage through sun exposure, so keep using sunscreen post treatment to keep skin from getting damaged again.

Who can get this treatment?

Photofacial treatment works best on those with lighter skin tones who are looking to improve signs of aging.
