Chemical Peels

What is Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel utilizes specialized chemicals to remove outer layers of dead skin and reveal healthier skin underneath. Chemical peels like glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid are customized for your skin issues and can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, acne, and uneven texture.

How does it work?

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. The skin that grows back is smoother, healthier and renewed. With a light or medium peel, you may need to undergo the procedure more than once to get the desired results.

What to expect during your treatment?

We prepare your skin with a pre-peel solution, avoiding your eyes and mouth, followed by the peel application. We allow the peel to work for five to seven minutes before removing it with a neutralizer. While the chemical peel is on your skin, you may feel a tingling or heat sensation. The chemical peel works by removing the outermost layers of dead skin so damaged skin can peel off. Most chemical peels take three to seven days to show full results.

What to expect after your treatment?

After a chemical peel of any depth, your skin will be red, tight or slightly itchy. Follow the provider’s  directions for using a gentle cleanser, gentle moisturizer and applying protective sunscreen and ointments like Aquaphor ointment for quick and better healing of your skin. Avoid picking, rubbing or scratching your skin.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

You can see a noticeable reduction or elimination of fine lines, wrinkles, sunspots, acne, and dry or oily skin after your peel. By removing the outer layers of dead skin to reveal healthy, new skin, chemical peels exfoliate the skin and improve the tone, texture, and color of your skin. Chemical peels also stimulate cell turnover, which improves the overall health and appearance of your skin. Cellular turnover increases blood flow, increases collagen production, creating a more youthful glow and fullness in your skin.
