What type of laser is used for laser hair removal?
Dr. Ather uses the Syneron Candela GentleMax® laser, which provides consistent results with minimal discomfort. The GentleMax laser includes a dual-laser system that emits two different light frequencies, which results in a faster treatment session than single-laser machines.
What happens during a laser hair removal session?
During your laser hair removal session, Dr. Ather uncovers the area of skin being treated and you wear a pair of light-blocking glasses to avoid eye irritation from the laser. Dr. Ather gently presses the handheld wand against your skin and pulses the laser on and off before moving to another spot.
You may feel a mild stinging sensation, like a small rubber band snap, on your skin when the laser is turned on. Dr. Ather pulses the laser on and off quickly so you only feel the sensation briefly.
Depending on the size of the treatment area, your session may last five minutes or up to an hour. In most cases, you need 2-6 treatment sessions to see results.
How long does laser hair removal last?
Laser hair removal results generally last for several months.* Once you begin to see regrowth, you’ll likely notice the hair is finer and thinner than it was before treatment.
If desired, you can return for a few additional sessions to remove the new hair growth. You typically need fewer follow-up sessions since your hair is finer after each visit.
